Alpacas come in several shades; however, there are two kinds of breeds. Their distinctive fleece distinguishes these. The Huacaya breed has the fluffier and thicker fleece consisting of about 90% of every alpaca from around the world. They are present in mainly the higher and cooler altitudes. Therefore, you will find several alpacas around Canada known as Huacayas. The Suri breed is defined by the silkier fleece growing into the long locks of hair hanging from the body. It is considered that their silkier, less dense, and longer fleece since they got adapted to reside in the lower warmer places.
